Senate Devolution Committee Visits Punjab Sindh Balochistan

The Senate Standing Committee on Devolution held a productive meeting to review its annual activities and plan upcoming visits to various provinces. Chaired by Senator Dr. Zarqa Suharwardhy Taimur, the session was attended by Senators Fawzia Arshad, Poonjo Bheel, and Zamir Hussain Ghumro. The committee endorsed its Annual Report and outlined a schedule for provincial inspections aimed at strengthening devolved governance.

During the meeting, committee members discussed the key findings and recommendations outlined in the Annual Report, emphasizing the importance of effective devolution at the provincial level. The committee underscored its commitment to monitor the implementation of devolved powers and to address any issues faced by provincial administrations.

In addition to review proceedings, the committee finalized plans to conduct visits to various regions to assess the progress of devolution efforts firsthand. It was decided that the committee will visit Punjab at the end of July, followed by Sindh in August, and Balochistan in September. These visits aim to facilitate direct engagement with provincial authorities, review development initiatives, and ensure the smooth transfer of responsibilities as mandated by the devolution process.
