Students Engage in Senate Visit for Civic Learning

On 10 February 2026 a 21-member student delegation from Balochistan Residential College Othal, accompanied by six faculty members, visited Parliament House Islamabad as part of a study tour. Senate Secretariat officials received and welcomed the group ahead of the Senate visit.

During the Senate visit the delegation toured the Senate Museum where Senator Asad Qasim provided a detailed briefing on the constitutional structure of the upper house, the lawmaking process, the Senate’s duties, the members’ election system and the role of standing committees. Senator Qasim emphasised that the Senate acts as a symbol of balance and harmony among federal units and plays a key role in addressing national issues.

The senator spoke directly to the students, describing youth as the country’s bright future and urging the new generation to contribute positively to national development and democratic stability. The delegation received comprehensive information on Pakistan’s parliamentary system, the stages of legislation and the constitutional powers of the Senate as part of the educational exchange.

Participants were shown an informative documentary on the history of the upper house and expressed strong interest in the museum’s statues of national personalities and historical photographs. The group then visited the Senate Hall and observed an ongoing session, during which Senate officials offered guidance on parliamentary traditions and the rules of order that govern proceedings.

The delegation was also guided through Gali-e-Dastoor, receiving a detailed briefing on Pakistan’s parliamentary history and democratic evolution, and posed for a group photograph with Senator Asad Qasim. At the conclusion of the Senate visit students and faculty praised the Senate Secretariat’s efforts to promote democratic values, parliamentary transparency and institutional strength, and expressed gratitude for the support and guidance provided during the study tour.
