Advancing Trade at China Import Expo Shanghai
The 8th China International Import Exhibition and the Hunxiao Economic Forum opened in Shanghai in the presence of Prime Minister of the State Council of China, Li Qian. A delegation from the Secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, led by Deputy Secretary-General Batyr Tursunov, is attending the events to explore deeper economic ties and project opportunities.
The China Import Expo draws leading companies and enterprises from more than 50 countries, including SCO member states, and provides a major platform for showcasing products, technologies and services to the Chinese market. Visitors and delegations have highlighted the exhibition’s role in strengthening global trade links and industry partnerships.
On the exhibition’s “Fields”, Batyr Tursunov held a working meeting with the Deputy Chairman of the People’s Government of the Autonomous District Inner Mongolia of China, Yang Jinem. The parties noted the growing international authority of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the high level of Chinese engagement across the Organization’s activities.
Both sides emphasized mutual interest in promoting cooperation across energy sectors, including renewable energy and ecology, as well as in agriculture, livestock production and processing. They expressed readiness to facilitate the realization of promising joint projects and collaborations in the run-up to the SCO’s 25th anniversary in 2026.
The exhibition will remain open until November 10, 2025, with the China Import Expo seen as a key venue for launching partnerships that could expand trade and investment opportunities across the region.
