Iran Addresses US and Israeli Attacks on Its Nuclear Program

Iranian Ambassador Highlights Regional and Global Implications of Israeli and US Attacks on Iran’s Nuclear Program

The Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri-Moghadam, has condemned recent attacks by Israel and the United States on Iran’s nuclear facilities, asserting that these actions violate international laws and constitute blatant aggression. Addressing a press conference at the National Press Club in Islamabad, he emphasized that such attacks are rooted in regional insecurity and are driven by the geopolitical agenda of Israel and the US, rather than any genuine concern over Iran’s nuclear activities.

Ambassador Moghadam stated that Israel, which is not a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), has unjustifiably targeted Iran’s peaceful nuclear program, which the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has repeatedly declared to be non-military. “Iran’s nuclear activities are focused on peaceful purposes such as electricity generation,” he affirmed. He further condemned the recent strikes, which reportedly killed Iranian nuclear scientists and destroyed facilities, asserting that Iran responded with missile attacks, which he claims Israel could not withstand for ten days.

The envoy also criticized international reactions, highlighting that the US and Israeli actions aim to escalate regional instability and threaten the broader Muslim world. He argued that these attacks are attempts to undermine Iran’s sovereignty and that Iran will respond within the framework of international law, including the UN Charter. Moghadam warned that Iran might also target US interests globally and reiterated Iran’s commitment to defending its rights and nuclear program’s peaceful nature.

Regarding Iran’s nuclear ambitions, Moghadam reiterated that the program is solely for peaceful purposes, such as power generation. He expressed confidence in broad regional and global support, including Pakistan’s condemnation of the attacks and its reaffirmation at the United Nations Security Council to stand with Iran. “Pakistan’s support in condemning aggression and expressing solidarity with Iran is heartening,” he noted.

On the geopolitical front, the ambassador dismissed speculation about internal military relations, referring to a recent meeting between General Asim Munir and former US President Donald Trump as a bilateral matter without further comment. He also thanked BRICS allies for their condemnation of Israel’s attacks, underscoring that the current conflict is not limited to Iran but is part of a broader attempt by the US and Israel to target the entire Muslim world.

Moghadam expressed resilience and determination, affirming Iran’s readiness to sustain a prolonged conflict with regional and global backing, including support from Russia, which has shown solidarity in recent international meetings. He disclosed that Iran is conducting internal investigations into espionage-related incidents, including the confiscation of drones and weapons, some of which involved Iranian nationals.

In conclusion, the Iranian ambassador reiterated that Iran’s nuclear program will continue peacefully and emphasized Iran’s intention to safeguard its interests amid escalating tensions, asserting that the ongoing conflict is part of a wider effort by Israel and the US to destabilize the region and undermine the unity of the Muslim Ummah.
