KMU Starts Online Admissions for KP Public Medical, Dental Colleges

PESHAWAR: Khyber Medical University (KMU) has announced admissions to MBBS and BDS programmes in public sector medical and dental colleges of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for the 2026-27 academic session.

According to the admission notice issued by the university, online applications opened on September 29, while the last date for submission has been fixed as October 21, 2026.

KMU has been authorised by the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to manage admissions to public sector medical and dental colleges in the province through the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT). The admission arrangement is applicable from the 2024-25 academic session onwards.

The university has invited applications from candidates seeking admission to public sector medical and dental colleges in the province. Candidates applying for the KMU Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), Kohat, and the KMU Institute of Dental Sciences (KIDS), Kohat, have been directed to submit separate applications.

The medical colleges covered under the admission process include Ayub Medical College Abbottabad, Bacha Khan Medical College Mardan, Bannu Medical College Bannu, Gajju Khan Medical College Swabi, Gomal Medical College Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber Medical College Peshawar, Khyber Girls Medical College Peshawar, Nowshera Medical College Nowshera and Saidu Medical College Swat.

The dental institutions included in the process are Bacha Khan Dental College Mardan, Khyber College of Dentistry Peshawar, Dental College Ayub Medical College Abbottabad and Saidu College of Dentistry Swat.

The notice also mentions reciprocal seats in medical colleges in Punjab and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. These institutions include Azad Jammu and Kashmir Medical College Muzaffarabad, Nishtar Medical College Multan, Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Medical College Mirpur and Poonch Medical College Rawalakot.

Under the eligibility criteria, applicants must have secured at least 60 per cent marks in Higher Secondary School Certificate, FSc or an equivalent qualification from a recognised board in Pakistan or abroad.

Candidates are also required to have passed MDCAT held in 2024, 2025 or 2026. For MBBS admission, the minimum required MDCAT score is 55 per cent, while for BDS admission it is 50 per cent.

Applicants must also possess a domicile of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa or the merged districts.

As per the merit formula, 10 per cent weightage will be given to Secondary School Certificate marks, 40 per cent to Intermediate or Higher Secondary School Certificate marks and 50 per cent to MDCAT marks.

KMU has asked candidates to apply through its official admissions website and complete the application process in line with the instructions available there. The notice states that hard copies of application forms are no longer required.

Applicants have been advised to retain their original fee slip, as it may be needed as proof during the admission process. The university has made it clear that incomplete or defective applications will not be entertained.

Candidates have also been directed to provide documents and information with care. The university warned that forged certificates or fake documents may lead to cancellation of admission. Admission may also be cancelled if a candidate is found to have submitted false information.

According to the notice, candidates whose names appear on the merit list will be required to deposit the admission fee within three working days after receiving an admission offer letter. If the fee is not deposited within the stipulated time, the seat may be offered to the next eligible candidate.

The admission schedule shows that applications became available on September 29 and the deadline for submission is October 21. The Medical Board for specially abled candidates will be held on October 23, while the appeal medical board will take place on October 26.

The provisional merit list is scheduled to be displayed on October 30. Online objections to the provisional merit list can be submitted from November 1. A meeting of the relevant committee to review objections and claims will be held on November 4 and 5.

The final merit list will be displayed on November 12. Placement in MBBS and BDS colleges will be carried out from November 16 to November 21, followed by placement for relevant categories at KIMS and KIDS on November 23.

KMU has also announced further rounds for vacant seats. The second round will be held from December 1 to December 4, while the third round will take place from December 15 to December 17.

The university said that complete details regarding eligibility, merit calculation and the application procedure are available on the official KMU admissions website.
