ZFA chief in Pakistan for talks on humanitarian cooperation

ISLAMABAD: Mr Halil Demir, Chief Executive Officer of the Zakat Foundation of America (ZFA), is visiting Pakistan for high-level engagements with United Nations agencies, diplomatic missions, government departments and federal ministries to enhance cooperation on humanitarian and development priorities.

The visit is aimed at exploring strategic partnerships, mobilising resources and supporting sustainable humanitarian development across the country. During his stay, Mr Demir is holding meetings with key stakeholders on joint initiatives covering education, clean drinking water, orphan care, emergency relief, food security, youth empowerment and digital skills development.

These areas represent urgent needs for vulnerable communities in Pakistan, where recurring natural disasters, economic pressures and limited access to basic services continue to affect millions of people.

The meetings are expected to help strengthen institutional partnerships and attract greater local and international support for relief and development programmes. Through cooperation with government bodies, international organisations and diplomatic partners, ZFA seeks to broaden the scope of its work, improve coordination and ensure transparent and effective delivery of assistance to communities in need.

Officials familiar with the visit said cooperation between humanitarian organisations, public institutions and the international community is necessary for developing lasting solutions. They noted that such partnerships can help prevent duplication of work, make better use of limited resources and sustain relief and development efforts beyond the immediate emergency phase.

Discussions during the visit are likely to cover both urgent relief requirements and long-term development objectives. The priority areas include improving access to quality education for children, providing safe drinking water to underserved communities, assisting orphans and their families, strengthening food security for at-risk households, and enabling young people to acquire digital skills for better prospects in a changing job market.

Through these engagements, the Zakat Foundation of America has reaffirmed its commitment to serving vulnerable communities with dignity, building strategic partnerships and promoting sustainable responses to Pakistan’s humanitarian and social challenges. The organisation has stated that it will continue working with national and international partners to create meaningful and lasting impact for the people of Pakistan.
