PMYP Appoints Focal for Overseas Affairs and Trade

The Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme has appointed Sheheryar Memon as Focal Person for Overseas Affairs and Business & Trade Linkages, a move aimed at strengthening engagement with Pakistan’s overseas community, expanding trade opportunities, and placing youth empowerment at the center of economic initiatives.

The appointment highlights the government’s focus on leveraging the Pakistani diaspora and international trade relationships to boost national development. Officials say the role is intended to create stronger business and trade ties abroad while ensuring young people are positioned to benefit from and contribute to these efforts.

Memon said he was honored by the trust placed in him and pledged to serve with full dedication. He stressed that Pakistan’s youth—who make up more than 60 percent of the population—are the backbone of the country’s sustainable growth and economic future. “Pakistan’s youth are an unparalleled asset. Through building overseas linkages, expanding trade opportunities, and aligning young talent with global markets, we can accelerate growth and contribute directly to the Government of Pakistan’s vision for a stronger, more prosperous nation,” he said.

In his new role, Memon will work closely with the Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, relevant government institutions, and international stakeholders to promote Pakistan’s business potential abroad. Ensuring that youth empowerment remains central to trade and economic initiatives will be a key component of his mandate.
