Advancing Harassment Act Enforcement
An interactive session at the Central Police Office Peshawar brought together FOSPAH’s Assistant Registrar Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police and AIG Gender Ms. Anila Naz alongside women police officers, senior officials, legal experts and women representatives to focus on implementation of the Harassment Act.
Participants discussed practical measures to improve victim support and ensure transparent complaint registration, stressing the need for safe workplace practices across public and private institutions. The session highlighted how consistent application of the Harassment Act can increase trust in reporting mechanisms and deliver timely redress for survivors.
Speakers referenced national and international frameworks to underline accountability and the importance of stronger professional support for victims. Emphasis was placed on building systems that protect complainants while maintaining procedural transparency under the Harassment Act.
Ms. Anila Naz reaffirmed KP Police’s commitment, under the leadership of IG Zulfiqar Hameed, to empower women through dedicated women’s desks and institutional measures that support frontline officers and civilian complainants alike. These desks were presented as a key mechanism to make complaint registration more accessible and survivor-centered.
The session marked a significant step in deepening collaboration between FOSPAH and KP Police, with both institutions agreeing to coordinate training, referral pathways and follow-up procedures to strengthen enforcement of the Harassment Act and promote harassment-free workplaces across the province and beyond.
