Ensuring Secure MDCAT 2025 Across Pakistan
Prof. Dr. Rizwan Taj, President of the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council, chaired a high-level meeting in Islamabad with the Registrar PM&DC, the Head of the Examination Department and vice chancellors of all universities responsible for MDCAT 2025 to review preparations and ensure a smooth, transparent and secure nationwide examination.
Universities were directed to carry out thorough inspections of examination venues and to make foolproof arrangements to guarantee fairness and efficiency. Authorities must ensure adequate seating capacity and essential facilities for all candidates, provide appropriate heating or cooling according to weather, maintain reliable drinking water supplies and set up designated waiting areas for parents and guardians at every centre.
Security was a central focus, with the council instructing institutions to strengthen protocols including installation of signal jammers to block unauthorized electronic devices and other measures to protect exam integrity. Each university will issue bubble sheets with carbon copies while maintaining complete confidentiality of all question papers; papers will be opened only in the presence of official witnesses to preserve transparency.
All answer sheets are to be collected immediately after each session and kept in secure custody. Original question papers must be retained by the respective universities for at least twelve months from the date of result declaration to allow for any necessary reviews and audits that support the credibility of MDCAT 2025.
Prof. Dr. Rizwan Taj stressed that results for MDCAT 2025 should be finalised and announced within one week of the examination date, and that a detailed post-hoc analysis report be submitted within ten days of result publication. To further enhance transparency, universities will upload the official answer key on their websites immediately after the exam and candidates will have the option to request a recheck of marks within three days of results.
The meeting confirmed that admissions to medical and dental colleges will be managed entirely by provincial authorities and admitting universities, with the admission process to be completed by 28 February 2026. The PM&DC clarified it will not participate in the admission phase, which falls under provincial jurisdiction.
Universities were urged to strictly follow PM&DC guidelines and to handle every aspect of MDCAT 2025 with maximum fairness, confidentiality and efficiency to uphold the credibility of the national medical entrance examination.
