August 5 Symbolizes Violation of Kashmiri Rights

Haroon Akhtar Khan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Industries and Production, has strongly condemned India’s actions in Kashmir, calling August 5 a symbol of severe violations of Kashmiri rights. His remarks were shared in a statement marking the annual ‘Youm-e-Istehsal’, a day observed to protest India’s revocation of Articles 370 and 35A.
Khan emphasized that India’s unilateral moves in 2019 to abolish the special status of Jammu and Kashmir were flagrant violations of United Nations resolutions and international law. He reiterated that Pakistan considers Kashmir its lifeline and will never accept India’s illegal occupation.
Highlighting the situation in the region, Khan condemned the military lockdown, serious human rights abuses, and the total media blackout imposed in Indian-administered Kashmir since the controversial measures were taken. He described August 5 as an attack on the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.
The Special Assistant reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to provide political, diplomatic, and moral support to the Kashmiri cause, stating that this support would continue until the dispute is resolved in line with the wishes of the Kashmiri people.
Khan urged the international community to take notice of the reported atrocities in Indian-controlled Jammu and Kashmir and play an active role in delivering justice. He concluded by calling August 5 a day to remember the sacrifices of the Kashmiri people and to renew solidarity with their just struggle.
