One Daughter One Tree Colleges Plant Trees with Minister

Minister of State Wajiha Qamar planted trees at Islamabad Model Postgraduate College for Commerce, H-8/4, and Islamabad Model College for Boys, H-9, under the Prime Minister’s flagship One Daughter, One Tree initiative, and held discussions on the institutions’ academic performance and community engagement while urging collective action to address climate change.

During her visits to both colleges, Ms. Qamar took part in tree-planting activities designed to support the national afforestation drive. The events were held at Islamabad Model Postgraduate College for Commerce (IMPCC) and Islamabad Model College for Boys (IMCB), reflecting the initiative’s focus on linking environmental stewardship with youth and education.

Ms. Qamar met with college leadership to review their recent achievements. Principals Prof. Dr. Muhammad Khalid and Prof. Javed Iqbal briefed her on academic performance, research programs, and outreach activities that have distinguished their institutions within the capital’s education sector. The minister expressed satisfaction with the colleges’ role in promoting quality higher education and commended faculty and students for their contributions.

Highlighting the environmental significance of the campaign, Ms. Qamar stressed that collective participation in tree-planting drives is vital to counter climate change. She said, “We can avert the climate crisis through plantation. Trees are rightly called the lungs of the earth, as they play a vital role in reducing global temperatures and sustaining life.” Students and teachers actively joined the planting efforts, demonstrating their commitment to a greener Pakistan.
