LAHORE: The Punjab Lawn Tennis Association (PLTA) has launched the Ali Embroidery Mills High-Performance Tennis Training Camp 2026 at the Punjab Tennis Academy, Bagh-e-Jinnah, Lahore, to prepare the province’s leading tennis players for higher-level competition.
The elite training camp, which started on July 20, will continue until August 20, 2026. More than 28 junior and senior players from across Punjab are taking part in the month-long programme focused on technical, tactical and physical development.
The players named for the men’s category include Ahtesham Humayun, Asad Zaman, Hamza Ali Rizwan, Abdullah Pirzada, Abdul Rehman, Mustafa Zia, Hadi Ali Rizwan and Zaroon Yaqoob.
The women’s lineup features Hajra Sohail, Bismel Zia, Khadija Khalil, Eesha Rabbi, Shahnoor Umer, Shahreen Umer, Eman Shahbaz, Aiman Rehan, Aleezay Maryam, Hafsa Rana and Wajeeha Fatima.
For coaching and fitness support, the PLTA has engaged a team comprising former national player Arif Feroze, former Junior Davis Cup player and ex-Pakistan Junior No. 1 Ahmad Babar, national player Imran Bhatti and certified fitness trainer Syed Azhar Hussain (IFCA-UK).
The formal opening ceremony of the camp was held on Thursday at the Punjab Tennis Academy. ITF senior player and former national champion Waqar Nisar and former Pakistan Tennis Federation Secretary Col (R) Asif Dar attended the ceremony as chief guests.
PLTA Senior Executive Vice President Rashid Ahmed Malik, Sitara-e-Imtiaz, appreciated the facilities provided for the camp and expressed satisfaction over the commitment and discipline shown by the players during the training sessions.
In a joint statement, Rashid Malik, Waqar Nisar and Col (R) Asif Dar thanked Tariq Zaman, CEO of Ali Embroidery Mills, for his continued financial support and contribution to the promotion and development of tennis in Pakistan.
The training programme will conclude with a closing ceremony on August 20.
