Rawalpindi Police Boost Security and Claim Archery Wins

Under the direction of IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, an Inter-Region Archery Championship was held at the Police Headquarters where Rawalpindi Police teams competed alongside Faisalabad, Gujranwala, PHP Punjab and Telecommunication Punjab. The single men event was won by Telecommunication Punjab with Gujranwala Region second and Faisalabad Region third. In the single women category Telecommunication Punjab topped the podium, Rawalpindi Region finished second and Faisalabad Region third. Telecommunication Punjab also took first place in the mixed team event while Rawalpindi Region secured the runner-up spot and Faisalabad Region third. Gujranwala Region won the men’s team event ahead of Rawalpindi and PHP Punjab, and Rawalpindi Region won the women’s team event with Faisalabad second and Telecommunication third. Telecommunication Punjab claimed the overall title with Rawalpindi Region second and Faisalabad Region third.

SP Pothowar Talha Wali presented awards to winning teams and outstanding archers at the close of the tournament, noting that providing sports opportunities is part of the effort to develop police skills and morale. The emphasis on competitive sport reflects ongoing initiatives to engage officers beyond routine duties and to showcase their talents.

The Rawalpindi Police Women Police Station led a successful theft investigation that resulted in the arrest of a domestic worker and her mother for stealing gold from a household. Authorities recovered a gold locket valued at over 200,000 rupees and 73,000 rupees in proceeds from sale of the jewelry. Police reported the suspect acted with family members while the homeowner was absent and that further arrests, including the suspect’s father, are expected as the probe continues. The department reiterated that those who attack citizens’ property will face the law.

Separate raids against illegal gambling led to the arrest of 13 people and the recovery of 15,360 rupees in stakes, nine mobile phones and playing cards. Chaklala police detained seven suspects and recovered 10,000 rupees with four phones, while Bani police arrested six people and seized 5,360 rupees and five phones. Authorities described gambling as a social ill and said operations will continue to deter such activity.

In anti-narcotics actions, two drug suppliers were arrested and over three kilograms of hashish were seized. Kallar Syedan police recovered 1,775 grams from one suspect and Chaklala police seized 1,600 grams from another, with separate cases registered in each district. Officials affirmed intensified efforts to eliminate the scourge of drugs from the community.

To ensure safety at places of worship, Rawalpindi Police deployed more than 400 officers for security duties at churches, supported by mobile units, the Elite Force and Dolphin Force teams on patrol. Senior officers conducted checks and briefings for deployed personnel, and CPO Syed Khalid Hamdani emphasized that protection of citizens and their property remains a top priority with all available resources committed to the task.

Additional operations in Dhamial and Ratta Amral resulted in six arrests and the seizure of 25 liters of illicit liquor along with firearms and ammunition. Divisional SPs said enforcement against illegal weapons and narcotics will continue as part of a broader law-and-order campaign across the division.
