PMYP Trials Empower Youth Across Pakistan

The nationwide PMYP trials organised by Lahore Qalandars in partnership with the Higher Education Commission concluded with the Skardu finale, completing a tour that reached every province and many remote districts. The campaign aimed to open doors for young cricketers from urban centres and far-flung valleys alike.
From Balochistan to Sindh, Punjab to Kashmir and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Gilgit-Baltistan, the trials visited Kohat, Abbottabad, Peshawar, Mardan, Swat, Muzaffarabad, Gilgit and Skardu, drawing boys and girls eager to showcase their skills on a national platform. Each venue celebrated local cricketing culture while offering professional assessment and guidance.
Young participants displayed discipline, enthusiasm and raw talent that Lahore Qalandars’ coaching teams worked to cultivate, turning short trials into meaningful development moments. Atif Naeem Rana praised the initiative for uncovering potential and providing direction, saying “This has been a monumental journey, not only in discovering hidden talent, but in giving them belief, direction, and a pathway forward.”
The organisers acknowledged the role of national leadership and institutional partners in making the tour possible, extending thanks to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, PMYP Chairman Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan and the HEC for their support. Their backing helped transform the PMYP trials into a nationwide movement that reaches underserved communities.
Voices from the field reflected renewed optimism. One aspiring cricketer from Skardu said, “Thank you, Prime Minister, PMYP Chairman, and Lahore Qalandars CEO Atif Rana, for believing in us. These trials have given me a chance to chase my dream and represent Pakistan one day.” Another participant added, “We feel empowered and seen; because of this programme the next generation will dare to dream bigger.”
Beyond talent spotting, organisers framed the effort as strategic nation building through sport. By offering structured talent pathways, coaching support and exposure, the PMYP trials have set many selected youth on the road to advanced camps and possible national representation. Lahore Qalandars and PMYP are planning follow-up training academies, scholarships and regional infrastructure to sustain momentum and help produce cricketers who can compete with confidence on the world stage.
