Strengthening Japan Pakistan Trade Through High Level Visit

A high-level Japanese business delegation visited the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry and met Atif Ikram Sheikh, president of FPCCI, to discuss concrete measures to strengthen Japan Pakistan trade and attract new investment.

The delegation was led by Hokkaido assembly member Yuji Kobashi and included business representatives from Suzuki, the minerals sector, jewellers and other industries. Zulfiqar Ali Bhatti, Member of the National Assembly and PML-N leader, also attended the meeting and joined discussions on bilateral commercial cooperation.

Atif Ikram Sheikh emphasised that there are broad opportunities to expand trade and investment across multiple sectors, urging business communities in both countries to seize these golden opportunities. He noted that thousands of skilled Pakistani workers are already serving in Japan and highlighted Pakistan’s readiness to provide full facilitation to Japanese companies and investors interested in local projects.

Yuji Kobashi described Pakistan and Japan as two of the world’s most populous countries and pointed out that Pakistan’s large youth population presents a significant resource. He said Pakistani youth can gain valuable skills and technology training in Japan, secure meaningful employment there and return to contribute to Pakistan’s development.

Zulfiqar Ali Bhatti underlined the warm people-to-people ties between Japan and Pakistan and affirmed the government’s determination to deepen trade relations. The Japanese delegation expressed clear interest in exploring investment opportunities in Pakistan, signaling renewed momentum for Japan Pakistan trade and collaboration.
