Students Lead Wildlife Conservation Learning at MHNP

IWMB hosted students from Karakoram International University, Gilgit-Baltistan, at Trail 5 in Margalla Hills National Park for an interactive session and field visit focused on wildlife conservation and environmental awareness. The visit gave students direct exposure to park habitats and local conservation challenges while emphasizing practical steps they can take as emerging conservationists.

The interactive session combined discussion with on-site observation to help bridge classroom learning and field experience. Participants explored habitat features along Trail 5 and discussed how simple monitoring and awareness activities support wildlife conservation efforts in the Margalla Hills region.

For students from Gilgit-Baltistan, the visit provided valuable insight into the ecological diversity around Islamabad and highlighted opportunities to engage in conservation work across Pakistan. The experience aimed to strengthen environmental awareness and motivate young people to pursue active roles in protecting natural resources and wildlife.

By bringing university students to the park, IWMB reinforced the importance of connecting educational institutions with hands-on conservation practice. Continued outreach like this seeks to build a network of informed youth who can advance wildlife conservation initiatives across the country.
