Deepening Pakistan Russia Healthcare Cooperation
H.E. Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the Russian Federation, visited the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan to formalize a strategic roadmap aimed at strengthening Pakistan Russia healthcare ties. Senior officials held high-level discussions to translate policy priorities into practical collaboration between regulators, industry and training institutions.
The talks placed emphasis on expanding the footprint of Pakistani pharmaceuticals within the Russian market, seeking pathways that can increase exports while ensuring compliance with Russian regulatory expectations. Participants explored measures to streamline approvals and promote Pakistani-made therapeutic goods in key Russian distribution channels.
Another central theme was initiating joint ventures for vaccine production and localizing technology to build domestic manufacturing capability. Delegates discussed collaboration models that would combine Pakistani manufacturing strengths with Russian technical partnerships to support technology transfer and regionally scaled vaccine supply.
Aligning standards to facilitate seamless medical technology exchange was highlighted as a priority for both sides, with attention on harmonizing regulatory requirements, certification processes and quality assurance practices. Closer regulatory alignment is expected to ease the movement of medical devices and diagnostic equipment between Pakistan and the Russian Federation.
Developing collaborative frameworks for specialised healthcare training was also a key outcome, aiming to boost workforce skills and clinical capacity. Proposals focused on joint training programmes, exchange opportunities and curriculum alignment to ensure health professionals can support advanced therapies and technologies brought in through partnerships.
The engagement underlines DRAP’s commitment to elevating Pakistan’s therapeutic goods sector on the global stage and reflects a pragmatic approach to international partnerships that can translate the roadmap into concrete projects, increased market access and sustained capacity building within Pakistan Russia healthcare cooperation.
