Launching Remedial Therapy in Federal Schools
The Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training has formally launched a programme to provide Remedial Therapy services across all educational institutions under the Federal Directorate of Education. The agreement was signed by Prof. Dr. Rubina Hanif, Director of the National Institute of Psychology Center of Excellence at Quaid e Azam University, in a ceremony attended by Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Federal Minister for Education, Nadeem Mahbub, Secretary MoFE&PT, and senior FDE officials.
The initiative will deploy a specialised team of 60 Remedial Therapists and 3 expert coordinators to deliver diagnostic testing and evidence-based therapeutic support within schools. Remedial Therapy will be integrated with professional psychological care while also strengthening teacher capacity through targeted training, ensuring classroom teachers are equipped to support diverse learning needs.
Designed in direct response to the Dyslexia Bill 2022, the programme focuses on early identification and tailored interventions for students with learning disabilities. The partnership with the National Institute of Psychology aims to bring clinical expertise and research-backed methods into the formal school system to improve learning outcomes.
By establishing diagnostic protocols, therapy pathways and capacity-building measures, the project seeks to create a sustainable framework so that students with varying learning profiles can access consistent, high-quality support within Federal Directorate of Education schools and reach their full potential.
