Driving Pakistan Toward a Digital Economy Breakthrough
Pakistan is entering a new era of technology where initiatives such as Quantum Valley, artificial intelligence programs and strengthened global collaborations are reshaping the country’s tech trajectory. These projects aim to move Pakistan beyond a low-cost outsourcing model and position it as a leader in IT innovation.
Professor Ahsan Iqbal, speaking at the annual Pasha Awards, reiterated the government’s commitment under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision to build a strong, export-led digital economy. He said the aim is to transform Pakistan into a one trillion dollar economy by 2035 and highlighted the role of digital sectors in reaching that goal.
The national priorities driving this transition include promoting innovation, entrepreneurship and public-private partnerships, creating new jobs while boosting exports, attracting long-term investment, and building a secure and sustainable digital ecosystem. These priorities are central to expanding Pakistan’s technology base and scaling companies that can compete globally.
Professor Ahsan Iqbal congratulated Pasha, HBL and all award winners for their contributions, noting that their efforts will serve as important milestones in establishing Pakistan as a genuine digital power. Continued collaboration between government, industry and financial partners will be critical to sustaining momentum and realizing the promise of a robust digital economy.
