Strengthening FIA NCCIA Coordination

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) operate under separate mandates, each with a defined role in Pakistan’s law enforcement landscape. FIA NCCIA responsibilities are complementary but distinct, and choosing the correct agency ensures faster, more effective responses.

The FIA is a federal body tasked with a wide spectrum of investigations including human trafficking, immigration control, money laundering, economic and financial crimes, terrorism and matters linked to national security. Its remit covers crimes that have broader federal or cross-border implications and require specialised investigative powers.

The NCCIA is a specialist unit focused exclusively on cyber-related offences such as online fraud, harassment, financial scams, unauthorized access and the protection of critical digital infrastructure. The agency is structured to address the technical and investigative demands of incidents rooted in the digital domain.

Citizens should report incidents to the agency whose mandate matches the nature of the offence: for matters under the FIA mandate call 1991 or email complaints@fia.gov.pk, and for cybercrime concerns contact NCCIA at 1799 or helpdesk@nccia.gov.pk. Clear distinction between the two organisations helps preserve jurisdictional clarity while bolstering overall public safety and digital resilience in Pakistan.
