Students Rally in Rawalpindi for Sumud Flotilla

A large demonstration organized by MSO Pakistan filled the area in front of the Rawalpindi Press Club as students, civil society members and citizens united to condemn the attack on the Sumud Flotilla and the arrest of its volunteers.

The protest was led by Arslan Kayani, Nazim Aala of MSO Pakistan, and drew a significant turnout of students and local residents who voiced solidarity with the Palestinian people.

Speakers at the rally described the Sumud Flotilla as a peaceful humanitarian convoy aimed at delivering medicines and basic necessities to the besieged people of Gaza. They stressed that volunteers on board came from various countries solely to provide relief, and that targeting and detaining those volunteers constitutes a blatant violation of international law.

Addressing the crowd, speakers rejected what they called the implications of Trump’s 20-point deal, saying it serves an agenda that would deprive Palestinians of fundamental rights. They urged Muslim countries to form a unified, practical strategy in support of Palestine and warned that the wider Muslim Ummah will not accept measures that undermine Palestinian self-determination.

Participants chanted slogans and emphasized that Pakistan’s student community stands firmly with the Palestinian struggle. Organizers pledged to continue their advocacy and to amplify the voice of the Palestinian people on every available platform, while warning that unilateral and oppressive policies threaten regional peace.

Concluding the demonstration, Arslan Kayani said the protest was meant as a clear message that Pakistani youth and students will not waver in their support for the oppressed and that MSO Pakistan will persist in raising the Palestinian cause.
