CDA Victims Gain Momentum After NA Interior Committee Meeting

The National Assembly Standing Committee on Interior met at Parliament House to address long-standing issues of CDA victims, with the session chaired by Raja Khurram Nawaz and attended by members including Anjum Aqeel Khan, Barrister Aqil Malik, Talal Chaudhry and Malik Abrar Ahmed, along with the Chief Commissioner Islamabad and CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa.

Anjum Aqeel Khan presented a detailed account of delayed cases and demands on behalf of affected families, stressing that the rights of CDA victims can no longer be overlooked. He pledged continued advocacy across all forums until fair remedies are delivered.

Both Barrister Aqil Malik and Malik Abrar Ahmed praised Anjum Aqeel Khan for representing the affected communities and highlighted the need for timely action. The committee issued a declaration that future decisions on development, finance and allotments will be taken in consultation with the relevant MNAs.

On assurances from the CDA chair, victims will receive compensation at prevailing market rates and the controversial “Google/non-Google” division will be abolished. A fresh survey will be conducted and entitlements will be determined on that basis to ensure transparent resolution for CDA victims.

CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa also committed to clearing pending allotment letters and related payments promptly, accelerating sector development and resolving delays through consultation with members of the National Assembly. He noted a brief pause in activity due to some officials’ overseas duties, after which work will resume on a priority basis.

The meeting included representatives of the affected families such as Malik Zaheer, Malik Muhammad Ashraf, Malik Imran, Raja Faizan, Malik Abrar, Raja Babar and Raja Tahir. The same committee will also consider claims by victims of the Federal Government Housing Authority to ensure consistent redress across institutions.

Anjum Aqeel Khan reiterated that defending the rights of CDA victims remains his top priority, whether through compensation, allotments or development works, and called for sustained implementation of the committee’s decisions to deliver relief to affected families across Islamabad.
