PITB Drives Energy Automation for Punjab Utilities

The Punjab Information Technology Board has formalised a contract with the Energy Department Punjab to automate key business regulations under the ADP scheme titled Automation of Business Regulations Pertaining to the Office of CE (Power) & Issuance of e-Test Reports. The agreement positions PITB as the technical partner responsible for system development and management to deliver improved digital services for the energy sector.

The contract signing was presided over by PITB Director General e-Governance Sajid Latif and was executed on behalf of both organisations by PITB Director Development & Procurement Ata ur Rehman and Energy Department Punjab Director Technical Zafar Abbas. PITB Joint Director Ishfaq Jutt and Manager QA & Training Umar Javed attended alongside the Energy Department’s Chief Engineer Muhammad Yaseen, Director Technical IIqbal Tahir and Deputy Director Technical Azeem Sajid.

Under the project, the primary goals include automating the issuance and availability of the No Objection Certificate for the business community as well as digital handling of e-Test Reports and Periodic Inspection Reports. By digitising these processes, the initiative aims to streamline approvals and reporting, reducing paperwork and turnaround times while improving transparency across the energy sector.

PITB will develop and manage the new system and will deploy the solution across all electricity Distribution Companies in Punjab. This move marks a targeted step in Energy Automation for the province, enabling regulators, utilities and businesses to access certified test reports and inspection outcomes through a unified digital platform.
