Promoting Breast Cancer Awareness on Campus

On October 8, 2025 the Department of Zoology organised a seminar to promote breast cancer awareness among students and faculty, emphasizing practical steps for early detection and prevention. The event aimed to increase health consciousness on campus and encourage regular screening as part of routine care.

Dr. Samina Naeem Khalid, Professor and Head of the Maternal and Child Health Department at the Health Services Academy, delivered the keynote address. She outlined prevention strategies and the importance of timely diagnosis, stressing that breast cancer awareness requires both institutional support and informed individual action.

Dr. Samina Naeem Khalid highlighted the role of regular screening programs and taught techniques for effective self-examination, urging women to adopt these practices early. She pointed to the growing incidence of breast cancer in Pakistan and called for heightened vigilance among young people and faculty alike. The speaker underscored how early detection improves treatment outcomes and reduces the burden on families and health services.
