Boosting Pakistan Iran Barter Trade

Pakistan has issued a new ordinance designed to promote barter trade with Iran after an exhaustive process of deliberations. The measure incorporates concerns raised by the business communities of both countries and is expected to broaden the trade base and elevate Pakistan Iran trade through practical barter trade mechanisms.

The Pakistani Ambassador to Iran, Muhammad Mudassir Tipu, urged industry and business groups in Pakistan and Iran to take full benefit of the new ordinance and to work proactively to expand bilateral commerce. He called on Pak-Iran chambers and trade bodies to circulate the ordinance among members so firms can pursue mutually beneficial opportunities.

Officials say the ordinance aims to create a clearer framework for barter trade, address commercial obstacles identified during consultations, and provide businesses with tools to diversify trade channels. For Pakistani exporters and importers, the policy represents a timely chance to deepen economic ties with Iran and unlock new market complementarities.
