Authorities Seize Illegal Government Medicines
Peshawar district administration, working with health department drug authorities, recovered a large quantity of government medicines that were being stored and offered for sale in Sethi Town. Officials say many of the seized packets were clearly marked “Not for Sale” and had been diverted from official supply channels.
The operation led to the arrest of two individuals suspected of involvement in the illegal distribution and hoarding of public-sector medicines. Drug authorities carried out targeted checks in the neighbourhood after receiving intelligence about unlawful stockpiles and sales of government-supplied medication.
Deputy Commissioner Peshawar Captain (R) Sanaaullah Khan said the administration will continue to enforce a zero tolerance policy against those engaged in the purchase, sale or hoarding of government medicines. He urged citizens to report any suspicious activity and cooperate with local authorities to prevent diversion of public health resources.
Authorities stressed that efforts to curb the illegal trade in medicines will persist and called on the community to assist in identifying networks that traffic in government supplies. Continued vigilance by the public and coordinated action by drug regulators remain key to stopping the spread of illegal government medicines.
