Strengthening Canadian investment in Pakistan
The Canadian High Commissioner to Pakistan, Mr. Tariq Ali Khan, met with Federal Minister for Law and Justice Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar in Islamabad on October 29, 2025, to discuss avenues for deeper cooperation between the two countries.
The Federal Minister warmly welcomed the new envoy and underlined Pakistan’s intention to reinforce long-standing ties while promoting legal reforms and the rule of law. Discussion touched on human rights and an expanded role for Canadian investment in sectors offering mutual benefits.
The High Commissioner conveyed interest from several Canadian companies exploring opportunities in Pakistan, and both sides examined practical steps to encourage foreign participation. Senator Tarar reiterated that the Government of Pakistan remains committed to providing facilitation to investors to bolster confidence and ease entry for prospective partners.
Senator Tarar updated the High Commissioner on the launch of the Case Management System and outlined plans to roll the system out to provincial courts to improve judicial efficiency. Officials agreed that a modern case management platform would support transparency and, in turn, create a more attractive environment for Canadian investment.
Participants also discussed prospects for future collaboration, including ties around an upcoming mining conference to be held in Canada. Both delegations signalled willingness to pursue concrete partnerships that align legal reform, judicial efficiency and investment promotion to advance bilateral economic engagement.
