Advancing Technical Textile Center in Faisalabad

From October 21 to 24 a joint delegation from KOICA Pakistan Office and the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology (KITECH) visited the National Textile University in Faisalabad to advance plans for the Technical Textile Center under the second phase of the project (2022–2028, USD 7.95 million).

The visit included a Task Force Team meeting where project timelines and collaboration mechanisms were reviewed. The Technical Textile Center remains central to efforts to modernise industry capacity in Faisalabad, one of Pakistan’s principal textile hubs.

Teams examined detailed plans for equipment relocation and installation following the completion of the new centre building, ensuring that lab layout and machinery commissioning align with anticipated training and R&D activities. The delegation emphasised practical readiness for the early stages of operations once installation is complete.

Discussions also covered next year’s invitational training program, building on the success of the inaugural August training. Stakeholders outlined curriculum priorities and participant selection to ensure the programme strengthens local technical skills and supports industry needs.

Delegates visited several local companies to exchange views on launching joint R&D initiatives and prototype development. These engagements focused on operational arrangements, potential industry-led projects and pathways to translate centre research into commercially viable products that benefit Pakistani manufacturers.

KOICA reiterated its commitment to the Technical Textile Center as a vehicle for strengthening Pakistan’s textile sector through improved industrial infrastructure and targeted human resource development, aiming to deliver tangible benefits for Faisalabad firms and the wider value chain.
