Strengthening Pakistan Iran Parliamentary Ties
An Iranian parliamentary delegation led by Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf visited Parliament House in Islamabad on 5 November 2025 for talks with National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, underscoring a renewed focus on Pakistan Iran ties.
Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said the relationship between the two countries is rooted in common faith, culture and history and reaffirmed that the people, Parliament and Government of Pakistan stand shoulder to shoulder with Iran. He congratulated the Iranian Government and people for repulsing Israel’s aggression and noted that the Parliament of Pakistan was the first to unequivocally condemn the Israeli attack on Iran. He also expressed appreciation for gestures of solidarity from the Iranian Parliament, including chants of “Pakistan Zindabad,” and thanked Iran for its support during periods of Indian aggression. He described Iran as a trusted brotherly neighbour and said growing parliamentary cooperation will open new avenues for mutual progress and regional peace, reflecting the importance of Pakistan Iran ties.
Iranian Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf expressed deep appreciation for Pakistan’s timely support during Israel’s aggression, calling Pakistan a true friend in need. He said parliamentary collaboration is the cornerstone of closer bilateral relations and reiterated Iran’s desire to enhance cooperation across all spheres. Qalibaf thanked Pakistan for backing Iran in international forums and praised Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting regional harmony. Members of the Iranian delegation commended the active role of the Parliament of Pakistan in regional and global affairs, and both sides agreed to continue joint efforts for peace, stability and prosperity in the region.
Member National Assembly and Convener of the Pakistan-Iran Parliamentary Friendship Group, Syed Naveed Qamar, accompanied Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq during the meeting. The exchange between the two delegations signals an emphasis on parliamentary diplomacy that aims to strengthen Pakistan Iran ties and support broader regional cooperation.
