Advancing Nonprofit Certification Across Pakistan

In Islamabad, PCP held discussions with officials from a key field formation of the FBR to advance nonprofit certification and tackle persistent tax barriers affecting the sector.

PCP outlined its certification programme and emphasised the measurable impact certified nonprofits are delivering across Pakistan. The organisation also raised sectoral challenges related to obtaining NPO status and accessing tax exemptions, noting how these obstacles can limit operational capacity and programmatic reach.

The meeting reinforced the importance of sustained dialogue between civil society and tax authorities to streamline processes for recognition and relief. By advancing nonprofit certification and addressing administrative hurdles, stakeholders aim to improve transparency, boost public trust, and enable organisations to scale services for vulnerable communities.

Through continued advocacy and collaboration with the FBR, PCP affirmed its commitment to fostering a more enabling tax environment that empowers nonprofits to maximise social impact and respond effectively to local needs.
