Empowering Young Innovators at STEM Week
On 1 December 2025 in Islamabad, the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education held the closing ceremony of its annual STEM Activities Week, bringing together students, educators and officials for a day of scientific showcase and celebration. The event highlighted the role of practical learning and healthy competition in strengthening STEM education across Pakistan.
The chief guest, Nadeem Mehboob, Federal Secretary for the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training, praised the students and urged them to continue pursuing scientific inquiry. Reflecting on his own student days, he said Pakistan’s future lies in the hands of hardworking, creative and skilled youth and reiterated that initiatives like STEM Week are vital to nurture those qualities.
The chief guest congratulated the Chairman of the Federal Board, Dr Ikram Ali Malik, and his team for organizing a memorable week of activities that provided a platform for students to test and showcase their abilities. He emphasized that such competitions sharpen critical thinking and prepare students for future challenges in science and technology.
Judges evaluated projects presented under mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and computer science and awarded first, second and third positions to the most outstanding entries. The judging process rewarded originality, technical understanding and practical impact, reinforcing the competitive spirit central to STEM Week.
Alongside the scientific contests, more than 500 students participated in Quran recitation, naats, national songs and Urdu and English speech competitions, demonstrating a broad cultural and academic engagement. Organizers noted the strong turnout as a sign of growing interest in holistic student development within the Federal Board’s network.
At the close of the ceremony, Mirza Ali, Director Test Development, presented merit certificates and prize checks to the successful students. The awards ceremony underlined the Federal Board’s commitment to recognizing talent and encouraging continued participation in future STEM Week activities.
The week-long programme reinforced the importance of hands-on science education and community support for youth development, with STEM Week emerging as a key forum for cultivating the next generation of Pakistani innovators.
