Accelerating the 2026 Dengue Campaign

The Ministry of Health successfully convened a conclusive dengue strategy meeting under the chair of the Federal Secretary, M/o NHSRC, bringing together senior officials from Islamabad and federal institutions to finalise preparations for the 2026 dengue campaign. Attendees included the Deputy Commissioner ICT, the DG Health, the District Health Officer, the DG CDA MCI, ten core representatives, all executive directors of federal hospitals and other senior representatives who will oversee implementation across federal jurisdictions.

Participants discussed a coordinated approach to the Dengue Campaign that prioritises timely planning, clear budget allocation and accelerated human resources recruitment to ensure frontline teams are in place before peak transmission periods. The meeting emphasised the need for a detailed operational schedule, ring-fenced funding for prevention activities and strengthened surveillance supported by entomological input to guide targeted interventions in high-risk urban areas.

Public awareness and community engagement were highlighted as essential components of the Dengue Campaign, with plans to expand outreach and behaviour-change messaging in affected communities. Officials agreed on enhanced coordination between federal hospitals, district health offices and municipal agencies to streamline case management and vector control efforts throughout the 2026 season.

As part of the session, appreciation certificates were presented to dengue workers and entomologists to recognise their dedication and to boost morale among teams who conduct surveillance and field operations. The meeting closed with a commitment to ongoing monitoring and inter-agency cooperation to ensure the campaign’s objectives are met effectively.
