Empowering Communities Through 16 Days Activism
SHARP Pakistan sustained its engagement during the 16 Days Activism by working directly with communities in Lahore and Mianwali to promote awareness, empowerment and constructive dialogue around gender-based violence and online safety.
In Lahore, the organisation brought together refugee and host community participants for a community-focused event that emphasised inclusion and the agency of girls in marginalised settings. A symbolic cake-cutting led by young refugee Jaslin Singh highlighted the celebration of empowerment and the shared strength within these communities.
The session included practical guidance from cybersecurity consultant Mr. Munib Ahmed on securing social media accounts and preventing cyberbullying, while Field Manager Ms. Arooj-un-Nissa and lawyer Ms. Farzana Kpusar outlined cybercrime risks and the legal protections available to survivors. Their combined inputs aimed to give participants clear, actionable steps to protect themselves online and understand avenues for legal support.
Strength! Thy name is woman. Participants closed the Lahore gathering with this pledge, underscoring a communal commitment to uphold dignity and safety for women and girls.
At the same time in Mianwali, ALAC-III ran an interactive awareness session with female school teachers that focused on gender-based violence, digital violence and practical online safety measures. The session prioritised classroom relevance and teacher-led strategies so educators can better support students and model safe digital behaviour.
These activities reflect SHARP Pakistan’s ongoing commitment to building safer, better-informed communities across the country and to taking a firm stand against all forms of gender-based violence during the 16 Days Activism and beyond.
