NDU Visit Strengthens Cultural Ties at NCA
A delegation from the National Defence University led by Air Vice Marshal Amir Munir visited the National College of Arts in Lahore in a focused cultural exchange. The NDU visit included about 100 participants, comprising 50 foreign officers from 26 countries and 50 family members, and opened with a guided tour of the historic Tollinton Block.
Guests viewed the Marka-e-Haq Exhibition and demonstrations in weaving and jewellery making that highlighted Pakistan’s rich artistic traditions. The displays offered delegates direct insight into craft techniques and the cultural narratives behind the works.
The delegation then moved to the NCA Auditorium for a welcome session and the screening of the college’s introductory documentary alongside a selected thesis film from the Film & Television Department, underscoring the institution’s teaching and production strengths.
Delegates explored student thesis displays divided into four groups, engaging with projects across painting, sculpture, design and media. The structured visits allowed close interaction between visiting officers, their families and students, fostering dialogue on creative practice.
The programme concluded with tea and light refreshments at the Fountain Courtyard, followed by a meet and greet and a group photograph with the Vice Chancellor. The NDU visit underscored NCA’s role in promoting cross-cultural artistic exchange and deepening ties between military and civilian cultural institutions.
