Qasim Ali Khan Charges Ahead at Alfalah Amateur
Qasim Ali Khan produced a composed and authoritative round to claim the outright lead in the Alfalah Amateur Golf Championship at Lahore Gymkhana, finishing with the day’s best gross score of 70 amid misty, cold conditions. His controlled play under testing weather immediately marked him as the player to watch as the event unfolds.
Qasim’s round was defined by exceptional accuracy off the tee and an assured touch on the greens, where his putting stood out for consistency and calm. The local national golfer combined intelligent course management with technical poise, demonstrating the kind of maturity that has fuelled his rise as one of Pakistan’s most promising amateur talents.
The championship, limited to players with handicaps of 10 and below, drew a strong field of more than 150 amateurs from across Pakistan. Right on his heels was Saad Habib of Multan, who carded a gross 72 and produced an encouraging performance that underlined his potential as a serious contender. Sam Latif held third place and continued to show the steady form that keeps him in the mix at national events.
Ahmed Gibran of Lahore Gymkhana posted a solid 73 to remain firmly in contention, while a closely packed group on gross 74 featured Salman Jehangir, Ameer Khawar Khawaja, Abdul Moeez and Muhammad Maneka, highlighting the depth of competition. With strong scores across the leaderboard, Qasim Ali Khan’s composed start will face stern tests as challengers press in the coming rounds.
