Parliament Visit by Youth Delegation in Islamabad

A 29-member delegation affiliated with the Media and Civic Engagement initiative of the Indo Visual Land Pakistan platform carried out a parliament visit to Parliament House in Islamabad on 21 January 2026. The Senate Secretariat welcomed the group on arrival and arrangements were made for detailed briefings on parliamentary procedures and functions.

Senator Jan Muhammad provided a comprehensive briefing on the role of the Senate, explaining the stages of lawmaking, the scope of standing committees and the Senate’s working procedures. He outlined how the Senate operates as a symbol of the federation and described the election process for senators and how legislative proposals move through different stages to address public issues.

Member of National Assembly and Chairman of the Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting Polin Baloch briefed the delegation on the National Assembly’s role and the parliamentary system of work. Her briefing covered the committee system, preparation and approval stages of bills, and the matters currently under discussion in the Assembly, giving the visitors a clear picture of everyday parliamentary business.

The delegation toured the Senate Museum and Gali-e-Dastoor, where members expressed keen interest in Pakistan’s parliamentary history and artifacts. They also visited the Senate Hall and described the experience as highly informative and useful. Participants said such a parliament visit helps underscore the importance of democratic values, lawmaking and the parliamentary system for the younger generation.

Senator Jan Muhammad and Polin Baloch extended their best wishes to the delegation and encouraged its members to play an active role in the country’s future development. The visit concluded with a group photograph to mark the occasion.
