The GSMA, the largest international organisation representing telecom networks, has presented its report on Digital Pakistan 2030, highlighting Pakistan’s progress towards a digital economy and calling for faster action to support sustainable investment, trust and inclusive growth.
The report was presented by Julian Gorman, Head of Asia Pacific at GSMA. It stated that Pakistan has established strong foundations for digital transformation and that the Digital Pakistan 2030 vision requires sustained investment and inclusive economic growth.
According to the report, reforms in spectrum policy have improved the investment environment, while better digital governance has strengthened the role of technology in national competitiveness.
Julian Gorman said further progress was needed to accelerate sustainable investment, build confidence and ensure broad-based development. The report also urged stronger cooperation among the government, industry and development partners.
The GSMA report noted a significant rise in women’s digital inclusion and mobile internet use. Between 2024 and 2025, mobile internet usage among women increased from 45 per cent to 53 per cent, while the gender gap in mobile internet use declined from 25 per cent to 8 per cent.
The report described digital technologies as an important driver of national productivity and economic growth, saying Pakistan is moving rapidly towards a digital economy.
It also identified five key priorities for digital development and said the country should aim to promote reliable digital infrastructure and investment by 2030.
