ISSI marks Independence Day with tribute to founding fathers
ISLAMABAD: The Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI) celebrated Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day with a programme dedicated to the vision, leadership and courage of the founding fathers, while also honouring the country’s history, spirit and resolve.
The event was attended by the Institute’s senior management, research faculty, staff and interns.
A key feature of the programme was a series of short documentaries prepared by ISSI’s research interns. The documentaries highlighted Pakistan’s rich history, the struggle and sacrifices of the elders for an independent homeland, and the country’s cultural diversity shaped by different faiths, ethnicities and languages.
The presentations also reflected the patriotism, resilience, hospitality and commitment to nation-building of the Pakistani people.
Speaking on the occasion, ISSI Director General Ambassador Moin ul Haque reviewed Pakistan’s journey and referred to the achievements made by the country over the past seven decades. He said Pakistan was a blessed country and that its real strength lay in its people.
He stressed the need to pursue excellence as well as personal and professional growth through discipline, a sense of responsibility, honesty and integrity, describing these as essential pillars of nation-building.
Dr Talat Shabir, Director Administration, said Quaid’s principles of “Unity, Faith and Discipline” remained central to Pakistan’s national identity. He called upon the youth to reflect on these principles, uphold them and work together for a stronger, prosperous and resilient Pakistan.
On the occasion, ISSI also honoured members of its staff who have completed more than two decades of service at the Institute, recognising their longstanding dedication, valuable contributions and commitment.
The ceremony concluded with a special cake-cutting event.
