JI Sit-ins Drawing Public Support Across Provinces, Says Randhawa

ISLAMABAD: Jamaat-e-Islami Islamabad Ameer Engineer Nasrullah Randhawa has said that the sit-ins being held by Jamaat-e-Islami at the headquarters of all four provinces are turning into centres of public mobilisation.

In a statement issued by the Jamaat-e-Islami Islamabad office on August 18, 2026, Randhawa said the protests had created a fresh wave of public awareness, with a large number of people joining the struggle for their rights.

He said Jamaat-e-Islami’s key demands included reduction in the prices of petroleum products, abolition of the petroleum levy, decrease in oppressive taxes and provision of real economic relief to the people.

Randhawa maintained that these demands were receiving strong acceptance at the public level. He added that the increasing interest and participation of citizens in the sit-ins clearly showed that the people were no longer ready to accept further inflation and economic burden.

The JI Islamabad chief said the sit-ins were not merely a protest but a movement to organise and mobilise the public. He said the countrywide public mobilisation would, Insha’Allah, prove to be a precursor to major change and a new revolution.

Randhawa urged the government to listen to the voice of the people and immediately accept Jamaat-e-Islami’s legitimate demands. He said the sit-ins would continue in every case until the demands were accepted, adding that the people would return only after securing acceptance of their demands.
