ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Junior Golf Team returned to Lahore via Sri Lanka on Tuesday after a strong performance at the 3rd APGC Bangladesh Junior Amateur Golf Championship 2026, where the young national golfers delivered notable results across different categories.
Senior officials and representatives of the Pakistan Golf Federation (PGF) received the squad on arrival and accorded the players a warm welcome. A special ceremony was arranged in honour of the junior golfers, during which gifts and traditional sweets were distributed.
PGF officials also spoke to the players about their performances and overseas experience, while interviews were recorded with the national golfers who won championship titles.
Pakistan’s players dominated the event, especially in the girls’ categories. Jannat Aamir Jami of Indus Golf Club, Attock, showed grit and consistency to win the Girls Under-15 Championship title.
In the Girls Under-19 category, Lahore Gymkhana’s Nabeeha Nafees produced a commanding display to finish first and claim the championship title. Pakistan’s Areeba Rizwan took the runner-up position in the same category, completing a sweep of the top two places for the country.
The boys’ divisions also brought encouraging results for Pakistan, with Under-15 players finishing among the top five and Under-19 golfers securing positions in the top ten.
According to the PGF, the results represent an important milestone for the PGF Junior Development Programme, which was launched in January 2026. The initiative is being led by PGF Manager Malik Kamran, who holds Game Development and High Performance certification from the PGA of Australia.
The programme aims to identify emerging talent from across the country, provide structured training and create equal competitive opportunities to develop a strong future talent pipeline.
The PGF said the programme has also earned international recognition, with world golf governing body The R&A inviting the federation to present the model at its Global Alliance Best Practices Exchange.
The junior contingent travelled on the invitation of the Bangladesh Golf Federation. The PGF said the tour served as an operational extension of the junior development initiative, turning structured grassroots work into immediate and impressive results.
The national junior squad comprised Jannat Aamir Jami of Indus Golf Club, Attock; Nabeeha Nafees of Lahore Gymkhana; Areeba Rizwan; Wareesha Shahid Malik of Islamabad Club; Dua Fareed Rao of PAF Risalpur; Muhammad Musa Adil Warraich of Peshawar Golf Club; Behzad Murtaza of Karachi Golf Club; Mustafa Zubair of Margalla Greens Islamabad; and Muhammad Baariq Ayub of PAF Islamabad.
The Pakistan Golf Federation appreciated the players, their parents, Team Manager Tehmina Ali for her administrative leadership, and the Bangladesh Golf Federation for its hospitality.
The federation said that besides podium finishes, the main purpose of the tour was to give young golfers exposure to competitive pressure and varied international playing conditions.
The PGF reaffirmed its commitment to continuing structured training and international exposure to strengthen junior golf across Pakistan.
