Women University Mardan Holds M.Phil Zoology Viva Voce

MARDAN: Women University Mardan (WUM) has successfully conducted the M.Phil Zoology viva voce examinations, where 12 scholars presented and defended their research work.

According to the university, two scholars completed their work under the supervision of Dr. Huma Fatima, six under Dr. Nosheen Rashid, two under Dr. Hina Jabeen and two under Dr. Touseef Rehan.

The theses were evaluated by external examiners Dr. Sumbal Haleem, Dr. Erum Maqsood and Dr. Asma Azam from Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University (SBBWU), Peshawar, and Dr. Gulab Fatima Rani from Khyber Medical University (KMU), Peshawar. The university appreciated the examiners for their time, academic input and constructive feedback.

The research projects carried practical importance and possible applications in poultry health, veterinary sciences, livestock management, biodiversity conservation, ecological planning, pest management, sustainable agriculture and animal-feed industries.

Among the scholars, Sana Habib conducted research on helminths in domesticated chickens, Zainab Bibi on Salmonella in broiler chickens, Sumbal Lodhi on ticks infesting dogs, Sawaira Khan on gut microbiota of the Greater Wax Moth, Aleena Ejaz on gastrointestinal parasites in domestic animals, Ms. Kiran on avian biodiversity and habitat suitability of the White-Breasted Waterhen, Ms. Urooj on selenium nanoparticles and Bacillus subtilis in stressed broiler chickens, and Ms. Uzma Lal Muhammad on intestinal microbiota of the Black Soldier Fly.

The university said these studies highlighted work with potential benefits for animal health, food safety, conservation, sustainable waste management and allied industries.

Special appreciation was extended to Prof. Dr. Razia Sultana, Vice Chancellor of WUM, for her leadership and continued support for research excellence. The university also acknowledged Ms. Haleema Ikram, Deputy Director ORIC; Mr. Adnan Ali Khan, Controller of Examinations; and the WUM administration for facilitating postgraduate research and academic processes.

WUM congratulated the M.Phil scholars, supervisors, examiners and faculty members on achieving this academic milestone and wished them success in advancing zoological sciences and contributing meaningful research to society and industry.
