LAHORE: TECNO on Thursday launched the POVA Curve 2 5G in Pakistan, introducing the handset with the company’s “Beauty and Beast” concept and positioning it as a slim yet powerful smartphone for local users.
The new phone is available in an 8GB RAM and 256GB ROM variant at a price of PKR 99,999. According to the company, the POVA Curve 2 5G has been designed for users who want both a striking look and long-lasting performance.
The device is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7100 5G processor, aimed at gaming, streaming, multitasking and continuous connectivity. For gaming users, TECNO says the phone can deliver 90 minutes of smooth and stable Free Fire gameplay at 60fps, while Ice Cooling 3.0 helps maintain steady performance during use.
The company said the handset is TÜV Rheinland certified to remain lag-free for six years. It also supports 20 5G bands and uses TECNO’s own signal technology, which the company says can provide up to 100 percent stronger signal inside buildings and basements, along with 60 percent stronger Wi-Fi. The Wi-Fi performance is also TÜV certified, while TECNO describes the phone as the “Pakistan Signal King”.
A key highlight of the POVA Curve 2 5G is its 8000mAh battery, fitted into a body that is 7.42mm thick and weighs 195g. TECNO says this makes it the thinnest phone among smartphones carrying an 8000mAh battery.
The company said the battery allows users to charge the phone every two days, offers more than 15 days of standby time, and has TÜV certification for extended battery life of more than three days. The phone supports 45W wired fast charging, which can charge the device from zero to full in 82 minutes. It also offers 10W reverse charging and bypass charging. TECNO says the battery is built for 2,000 cycles, equal to six years of safe and durable use.
The smartphone features a curved 144Hz AMOLED display, designed to provide smooth scrolling and gameplay. The screen offers peak brightness of up to 4,500 nits, allowing clear visibility in direct sunlight.
For gamers, the phone includes 16x touch resolution and a 2160Hz instant sampling rate, with ultra-low response times for titles such as PUBG and MLBB. It also comes with multi-scenario anti-mistouch support, which is meant to reduce accidental touches caused by wet or oily hands.
In terms of design, the POVA Curve 2 5G takes inspiration from interstellar spaceships, with flowing lines, a minimalist finish and a symmetrical layout around its triangular deco. The device also carries IP64 dust and water resistance for sandstorms, splashes and harsh weather, along with a Corning Gorilla Glass 7i display and SGS-certified 1.5m drop resistance.
The handset is available in three colours: Melting Silver, Mystic Purple and Storm Titanium.
For photography, the POVA Curve 2 5G offers a 50MP primary camera, a 2MP macro camera and a 13MP front camera. TECNO AI features include AI Eraser 2.0, which removes unwanted people, pets and clutter from photos; AI Flare Remover, which deals with glare and haze; and Image-to-Live, which turns still photos into moving images.
The phone also includes AI Noise Cancellation for clearer calls. Its Ella voice assistant supports two-way call translation, now including WhatsApp, as well as WhatsApp summaries and one-tap Q&A.
The TECNO POVA Curve 2 5G is available across Pakistan from October 15. For the launch, TECNO has partnered with PalmPay, offering buyers PKR 5,000 off when they purchase the phone through PalmPay’s instalment service.
