Pakistan and Egypt Strengthen Cooperation in Agriculture Technology

Pakistan and Egypt have agreed to enhance cooperation in agriculture, water management, climate technology, seed improvement, livestock development, and halal meat trade. This agreement emerged from an important meeting between Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Food Security, Rana Tanveer Hussain, and the Egyptian Ambassador, Dr. Ehab Mohamed.
In the meeting, Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain highlighted Egypt’s expertise in dry farming and drip irrigation techniques, praising Egypt as a model of effective agricultural practices, particularly suitable for Pakistan’s environmental and crop management needs. He emphasized that adopting Egyptian strategies could significantly boost agricultural productivity and reduce water wastage in Pakistan.
Minister Hussain further stated that cooperation in seed improvement, agricultural research, and capacity building between the institutions of both countries is essential for Pakistan’s agricultural advancement. He indicated that Pakistan aims to benefit greatly from Egypt’s extensive experience and technological advancements to achieve better productivity and sustainability in farming.
Discussing the storage and preservation of wheat, Minister Hussain remarked that the Egyptian model for wheat storage is highly practical and applicable to addressing Pakistan’s current challenges related to grain storage losses. In addition, he underscored the importance of Egypt’s climatic technology expertise, suggesting such technologies could serve as benchmarks and help mitigate the adverse effects of climate change on Pakistan’s agricultural sector.
Minister Hussain also emphasized the significance of collaboration with Egypt in the halal meat industry. He stated that strengthening ties in livestock management and meat export could help Pakistan achieve greater penetration into international halal markets. He expressed confidence that such cooperation would directly benefit local farmers and open new avenues for export growth.
Reaffirming the Pakistani government’s commitment toward agricultural reforms, Minister Hussain asserted that global cooperation, particularly with Egypt, is vital for achieving long-term food security and agricultural self-sufficiency. He concluded by expressing optimism that the expansion of ties with Egypt in agriculture and related technologies would usher in a new era of mutual benefit, directly enhancing the livelihoods and income of Pakistani farmers.
