Punjab Health Advisor Major General (Retd) Dr. Azhar Mehmood Kayani conducted a surprise inspection of the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Samanabad, reviewing its facilities and interacting with patients to assess the quality of healthcare services.
During his unannounced visit, Dr. Kayani toured all wards, including the emergency unit, to gain a comprehensive understanding of the hospital’s operations. He held conversations with patients to gather feedback about the services provided and listened attentively to their complaints.
A key concern raised by patients was the instruction from some doctors to purchase medicines from outside the hospital. Taking serious notice of this issue, Dr. Kayani immediately questioned the hospital’s Medical Superintendent and relevant doctors, directing them to provide explanations. He also instructed that patients who were forced to buy medicines externally should be reimbursed.
In addition, Dr. Kayani visited the hospital’s physiotherapy unit, where he commended the doctors for their professional performance. He emphasized to hospital administration the importance of ensuring the provision of high-quality medical facilities and treatment to all patients.
Through the visit, the Punjab Health Advisor underscored his commitment to raising hospital standards and promoting transparency in health service delivery.
