CDA’s Commitment to Resolving Islamabad Citizen Issues

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has reaffirmed its commitment to resolving public issues in both the urban and rural areas of Islamabad, following a high-level meeting between CDA Chairman and Chief Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa and a delegation of prominent parliamentarians. The meeting brought together federal and local legislators who discussed key challenges faced by residents and proposed measures for ongoing development and citizen welfare.
During the meeting at the CDA headquarters, the delegation of parliamentarians included Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, Chairman of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Interior and Narcotics Raja Khurram Shahzad Nawaz, and Member of the National Assembly Anjum Aqeel Khan. Senior CDA board members and officials were also in attendance.
Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa welcomed the parliamentarians and underlined the importance of close coordination between the CDA and elected representatives to address the needs of both urban and rural communities. He highlighted the role of parliamentarians in supporting development initiatives and expressed appreciation for their feedback and cooperation.
The parliamentarians commended the CDA’s efforts under Randhawa’s leadership, particularly initiatives aimed at the development, beautification, and general well-being of Islamabad’s residents. They offered their full support and provided constructive suggestions for addressing pressing issues in the city and surrounding rural areas.
A key focus of the discussions was the provision of funding to complete ongoing projects. Chairman Randhawa assured the delegation that every effort would be made to secure the necessary resources and directed CDA officials to accelerate development work following completion of legal requirements.
Other topics on the agenda included the beautification and horticulture of Islamabad Expressway’s green belts and the enhancement of sports facilities through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) partnerships. The Director General of Environment was appointed as the focal person to maximize the use of existing and new parks, green belts, and open spaces for public benefit.
The meeting further explored the construction and enhancement of major highways, installation of permanent and decorative lighting, the upgrading of public parks, and identification and allocation of land for new recreational areas. Plans to develop new highways and underpasses were also discussed to improve infrastructure connectivity across Islamabad.
Chairman Randhawa briefed the parliamentarians about the recent establishment of the Islamabad Water Authority, which aims to address longstanding water supply and sewage issues in the capital. Land allocation for new graveyards was also agreed upon, with directives to identify suitable locations across the city.
The parliamentarians emphasized the positive impact of electric buses on public transportation and advocated for expanding their service routes. In response, the CDA Chairman pledged to review existing routes and introduce new ones in line with commuter needs.
The meeting also included a progress report on ongoing operations against illegal construction and encroachments. Chairman Randhawa noted that joint enforcement actions are being carried out to clear illegal structures and promote tree plantation to enhance Islamabad’s environment.
Participants praised the CDA’s gradual transition to a paperless and cashless system, which is expected to improve transparency and operational efficiency. Measures are being implemented to ensure the broad adoption of digital practices within the authority.
To ensure continuous improvement, the meeting concluded with a decision to establish a follow-up mechanism. This system will regularly monitor progress and coordinate efforts to address the concerns of Islamabad’s urban and rural populations, ensuring timely and effective solutions for all citizens.
