Islamabad Cycling Competition Promotes Health and Sustainability

A cycling competition organized in Islamabad by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) attracted a wide range of professional and amateur cyclists, as well as citizens of all ages, in an effort to encourage healthy lifestyles and environmental sustainability in the federal capital.

The event, held in the city’s Blue Area, was aimed at promoting cycling as not only a popular sport but also a practical, eco-friendly means of transportation. The organizers emphasized that such initiatives are part of a broader vision for a cleaner and greener Islamabad.

Muhammad Ali Randhawa, Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, addressed the participants as the chief guest and highlighted the multiple benefits of cycling. He pointed out that regular cycling supports community health, reduces traffic congestion, lowers pollution levels, and encourages the adoption of non-motorized transport options.

Randhawa further mentioned CDA’s ongoing efforts to create cycling tracks, enhance road safety for cyclists, and integrate cycling infrastructure into the city’s urban landscape. He reiterated the authority’s commitment to transforming Islamabad into a model city for sustainable urban mobility.

The event concluded with the distribution of prizes and certificates to winners and participants. Randhawa commended the efforts of the CDA teams, volunteers, and cycling clubs for their roles in organizing the successful event. Participants also expressed appreciation for the leadership’s commitment and vision in promoting such activities, especially as part of a series of events celebrating national occasions in Islamabad, including the lead-up to Independence Day.
