Pakistani Community in New York Marks Independence Day with Tribute to Armed Forces
The Pakistani community in New York came together in Brooklyn to celebrate Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day in an event organized by the Pak American Society (PAS USA). The gathering highlighted national unity and honored the sacrifices and achievements of Pakistan’s armed forces, drawing hundreds of Pakistani-Americans from all walks of life.
Representing the Consul General of Pakistan, Deputy Consul General Umar Sheikh conveyed congratulations and expressed gratitude for the community’s unwavering support. In his address, he emphasized Pakistan’s recent victory in Operation “Bunyan al Marsous,” describing it as a significant milestone that showcased the bravery and professionalism of the armed forces. He honored both martyrs and veterans, affirming that peace, stability, and national cohesion remain central to Pakistan’s priorities.
The event featured patriotic performances by children and remarks from community leaders emphasizing unity and the importance of giving back. Speakers encouraged overseas Pakistanis to contribute to Pakistan’s development through educational pursuits, investment, philanthropy, and by promoting a positive image of the country abroad.
Organizers extended their thanks to the Deputy Consul General for his participation and recognized the ongoing support provided by the Consulate General to the local Pakistani community.
The celebration concluded with prayers for the country’s peace and prosperity, and the crowd enthusiastically chanted “Pakistan Zindabad.” Attendees reiterated their dedication to national unity and their commitment to supporting a stronger and more prosperous Pakistan.
