Senate Chairman Highlights Minorities Rights in Pakistan

Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani has extended heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to all religious and linguistic minorities in Pakistan on the occasion of International Minorities Day. He reaffirmed the country’s commitment to protecting and promoting the rights and welfare of minorities and praised their significant contributions to national development and unity.
Gillani emphasized that Pakistan’s Constitution guarantees equal rights to all citizens without discrimination, and highlighted that effective legislation has been enacted at the national level to safeguard minority rights. He noted the important role of minorities in the nation’s progress and stability, describing their contributions across various sectors as both vital and commendable.
Highlighting inclusivity, the Senate Chairman pointed out that women from minority communities have been given strong representation in parliament, reflecting democratic values and inclusive governance. He underscored that the Constitution not only secures fundamental rights for minorities but also provides clear guidance for state institutions to ensure these protections are realized in practice.
Gillani also mentioned that the Senate of Pakistan has taken multiple legislative steps to protect the interests of minorities, promote their welfare, and ensure equal opportunities. He reiterated that interfaith harmony, mutual respect, and national unity are the foundations for building a strong and peaceful Pakistan, and vowed that the Upper House will continue its efforts to safeguard minority rights and address their legitimate concerns.
