Strengthening Digital Governance in Pakistan with LUMS and MoITT

The Technology for People Initiative (TPI) at LUMS and the Ministry of IT & Telecom (MoITT) have announced a strategic partnership aimed at enhancing digital governance and creating a secure, citizen-focused digital ecosystem in Pakistan. This collaboration is designed to drive improvements in cybersecurity, digital service delivery, and infrastructure, while also promoting policy innovation, research, and digital skills development.
The partnership will address a range of priorities, including the protection of public digital assets, capacity building across public institutions, and the development of new products that enable more efficient government services. Special attention will be given to gender inclusion, ensuring that women have greater opportunities to participate in Pakistan’s growing digital landscape.
During a ceremony to sign the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja stressed the importance of cooperation between government and academia to build an inclusive and future-oriented digital environment. LUMS Vice Chancellor Dr. Ali Cheema reaffirmed the university’s ongoing commitment to improving governance and national development, while TPI Director Usman Khan emphasized that the partnership would leverage LUMS’ multidisciplinary expertise to create impactful, practical solutions.
This joint effort is expected to lead to a series of initiatives that will improve transparency, efficiency, and public access to government services, supporting Pakistan’s goals of inclusive economic growth and national prosperity.
