NHMP Chief Orders Stronger Traffic Enforcement on Motorways, Highways
ISLAMABAD: Inspector General, National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP), Sultan Ahmed Chaudhry on August 18 chaired the monthly Regional Conference of the force, where the performance of all zones was reviewed and key operational matters were discussed.
Additional Inspectors General, Deputy Inspectors General and Senior Superintendents of Police from all regions and zones across the country attended the meeting online.
According to a press release issued by the NHMP, the conference examined measures for improving traffic management, ensuring safe and comfortable travel, and dealing with other important operational issues on national highways and motorways.
IG Sultan Ahmed Chaudhry directed officers to use all available resources for providing safe, comfortable and quality travel facilities to citizens using national highways and motorways.
He also instructed the officers to further strengthen enforcement of traffic laws through effective strategies, professional expertise and the optimum use of modern technology.
During the meeting, the IG Motorway Police stressed that all officers must deal with passengers politely and with good conduct, besides extending every possible assistance to them. He said helping and serving the public was a distinctive hallmark of the Motorway Police.
He made it clear that courtesy and public service formed the identity of the Motorway Police, adding that any inappropriate behaviour towards passengers would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Concluding the meeting, IG Sultan Ahmed Chaudhry reaffirmed that protecting the lives and property of citizens travelling on national highways and motorways, providing a safe travelling environment and serving the public remained among the foremost priorities of the NHMP.
He said all available resources would continue to be utilised to achieve these objectives.
